EVI ENDORSES JAKE LEVINE IN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT 32

Jake impressed us on many levels: he refuses to take any corporate PAC donations, he has a long history of fighting for the environment, including helping to develop the California Climate Action Corps, a statewide program that puts thousands of young people to work tackling the climate crisis. He has been on the ground in the district advocating for fire recovery, an issue made personal when his family home burned down in the Palisades. Here in the Valley he has been a strong presence fighting ICE, specifically at the Home Depot in Van Nuys where he's spearheaded a campaign to get the city to end its lease with the store unless it changes its policies regarding immigration enforcement on its property. 

We don't need to tell you that we are living through extraordinary times. We need a representative who advocates for our progressive values, someone who will fight for us both in DC and at home, both within the confines of Congress and outside of them. In Jake, we see someone who can, will, and is doing this.

Thank you to the many EVI members who joined us at our CD 32 endorsement meeting this past week. Special thanks to the EVI endorsement committee whose hard work made the meeting possible - Andrew, Azeen, Beth, Diana, Fran, Todd, and Tracy. Finally, thank you to the candidates and candidate reps who joined us. We appreciate their time, insights, and clear passion for the district.

In the end, our group overwhelmingly voted to endorse Jake Levine for Congress in California District 32. 

EVI ENDORSES NICK SCHULTZ IN CA ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 44 NOVEMBER RUNOFF

While we were sorry to see that Steve Pierson did not make it through the primary in the race for AD44, we are very lucky to have another great candidate who we are proud to endorse in the runoff - Nick Schultz! We heard from Nick in our endorsement meeting last year and we were all very impressed by him. Nick was elected to the Burbank City Council in 2020 after receiving the second-highest number of votes in the city's history for a city council race and is currently serving as the city's mayor. Nick is an advocate for our environment, increased affordable housing, and criminal justice reform (specifically post-conviction review). Nick is up against a Republican and we want to help him keep this district blue. We are proud to endorse Nick and look forward to helping him win in November!
