Spotify isn’t just another streaming service. It has chosen to align itself with Trump’s oppressive regime by running ICE recruitment ads. Spotify is helping to promote ICE and DHS who are responsible for the brutal and racist kidnappings, family separations, and the terrorizing of immigrant communities that are happening now.

That is reason enough to take a stand. But Spotify’s problems go deeper: it pushes AI-generated and stock music that dilutes the royalty pool, props up major-label investors while artists struggle to survive, and pays out some of the lowest royalties in the industry. Add in invasive data tracking, pay-for-placement “Discovery Mode,” and a leadership class pouring money into AI defense technology, and the picture becomes clear — Spotify is choosing profit, surveillance, and automation over people, creativity, and justice.

We don’t have to fuel that system. Listeners, artists, organizers, and allies have collective power, and every canceled subscription is a refusal to support exploitation and cultural erosion. If we believe in human artistry, fair compensation, and communities free from state-sponsored harm, then now is the moment to act.
